Dayum, I got that Gucci face!
Gucci makeup has been the talk of the town this year, so I thought I might as well join the crowd and try their products. The real question is, are they worth buying? Not that the products are very pricey for a person who spends a lot on makeup every single month *GuiltyMuch* but I am very picky with what goes on my face.
First things first – let’s start with the foundation because a good foundation can take your look to a whole new level. At a first glance, the packaging looked very inviting – clean and glass matte! Something that I easily fall for; be it lipsticks, nail color or packaging, name it and I will buy it.
The Gucci Lustrous glow foundation with SPF25 promises to give a light radiant glow on your face. The first pump that I got out of the bottle of the 090 was super liquidy/watery, which honestly, I was not looking forward to. I built up the courage to put it all over my face and it gave me zero coverage. The texture doesn’t really form too well and is a bit runny. Even though I do not have blemishes on my face, but I do have deep eyes (often mistaken for dark circles!) and an uneven skin tone.
For a brand like Gucci, I did not believe that the foundation would be such a disappointment. So, I started telling myself that it could be because I have dry skin and I am used to using a mid-coverage foundation. Guess who I was fooling? LOL
The next thing I did was use my sister as a guinea pig! She has an oily-combination skin which, in my opinion, would be an ideal skin type for this foundation. The texture dried on her skin immediately, but gave her a beautiful matte, luminous finish. We gave it a few hours while hanging out and when we returned home she had the foundation left only on a few areas of her skin.
In short, the Gucci foundation did not live up to the hype for me but at least I had a shoulder to cry on to!
Moving on to my next purchase from Sephora, the Gucci Luxe finishing powder in the shade 020 is a complete eye candy. It comes with a little brush that looks super cute until it started shedding its bristles; however, I cared less since I have my own collection of makeup brushes. The powder sits well on the skin and I have been very satisfied with it.
That’s a tick on my list! #GucciLuxeFinishingPowderAllTheWay
Something that we all strive from makeup is a natural looking flush on the cheeks. My picks are the
Spring Rose and the Nude Freesia sheer blushing powder. The Spring Rose gives a healthy looking glow making that “oh-so-glowy” look on the cheeks, while the Nude Freesia adds balance and natural depth to the face – exactly what it claims. They stay for about 5-7 hours depending on the primer and makeup spray you use. I would say that the blushes held true to the Gucci DNA and I would not even think twice while adding them to my list again – minus the cute little brush that kept falling apart!
The next on the list is the Gucci Iconic black, Infinite precision liner; intensely black with a great packaging. It is made with silicone oils and resins that help create a creamy, pigment-rich and skip-free application. It is deeply pigmented but a bit watery, not as thick as other pot eyeliners. It helps to create everything from sleek winged eyes to smoky and graphic shapes.
But, if you ask me if I would ever buy it again then my answer is ‘No’. The reason I stated that is because I am always on the hunt for good eyeliners that are rich in pigments and are waterproof. My go-to eyeliner is Inglot gel eyeliner and I swear to that product!
Let me know your experience if you have used Gucci products and what’s your opinion?
